How to ramp up your influence as an expert in your business or professional field is a key question.

Become an author

People are reading more than ever. The written word is more accessible than ever. It can be read on any kind of device you choose, as well as in a bound book.

And since the proliferation of self-publishing and print-on-demand platforms the ability to become the author of your own book has never been more straight-forward.

So the answer to the question of establishing your influence could well be to write, publish and market a book.

Tell your story

You have a unique experience, and have learned lessons along the way which others will find inspirational. Noone has the same perspective as you do. Everyone’s story is different.

We like to know other people’s stories because they help us relate and reflect on our own. As social beings we are always learning from and being inspired by each other.

Share your knowledge

If you have specialist skills and insights in business and life sharing them in book form is useful for others. You can structure your narrative in a way that helps your reader work through your method, reflect on their own circumstances, and wish to strike up a dialogue with you. Your book can be a valuable way of establishing community around your proposition and getting people talking about what you offer.

Telling your story in your voice and conveying your personality is compelling.
